What I’ve Learned About Blogging… So Far

Hi guys! I wanted to take a break with all the Christmas posts around (not that I don’t love them because believe me I do) and share with you a few things I’ve learned from blogging… so far that is. Now you’re right I do only have a few posts on my blog but there have been a lot of deleted posts… a lot of  drafts and a lot of me looking at other bloggers blogs (ha that sounds funny). I’ve also been really, really and I mean really on and off blogging for over 2 years so some of these are from own experience, heck this most might even help some bloggers out there out.

The first one I have learned from experience which is write about what YOU ACTUALLY want to write about. I once wrote about an OOTD and I fucking hated it. I did it because I thought it’d get me more views and visitors. It was clear I didn’t want to write about it and that it wasn’t something I was passionate about at the time.

That brings me onto the second thing I’ve learned from experience. Fair enough you don’t know what you want to write about, so this might sound hypocritical but go ahead and try writing about a load of different things, find your niche. It’s okay to not know if you want to write about fashion or interior or beauty or personal. Give it all ago and see what you enjoy the most, you will find your niche eventually.

Being part of the community is definitely the best way to get traffic flowing to your blog. Commenting and liking other peoples blog posts lets them know you’ve been there and they may decide to check you out. Considering I’m quite a nosy person anyway I love checking out everyone’s blogs and commenting, everyone can be so lovely. This part for me is probably my favourite.

I’ve learned that when it comes to it, writing blog posts is 100x easier if you’re prepared. When I’ve blogged before, I would literally blog from the top of my head, that’s probably why I lost interest because I had no plan. I mean if that you blog, I’m jealous, I wish I could bang out a blog post from the top of my head but I cant. My phone as of recent has become full of blogging ideas, notes and photos (mostly the same phone but shot in 50 different angles). I just find it easier this way and keeps the inspiration flowing.

Lastly, I’ve come to notice that photos do matter. They’re not the sole reason why someone can follow you but it’s just nicer to have a photo or two to go along with your blog post (I’m not saying you need photos with every post). I’m still getting to grips with this whole photo business but I think people prefer to know what they’re looking at if you’re giving a review or showing off your outfit.

These are only just some of the things I’ve learned so far, I’m sure I’ll come across a lot more in the future but hey ho.

Much love ♥
